Display A Welcome Message For New Users In Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007
Back to Articles page
This article will show you how to create
a popup welcome message for first-time users
of Microsoft Outlook Web Access for Exchange 2007.
It makes use of the fact that OWA shows a language selection page
the first time a user logs in,
and this is where you will make the changes.
First, locate the languageselection.aspx file
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\Owa .
Make a backup copy, then open it in Notepad.
About 13 lines down, you will see a line like this:
Immediately after it, insert a line containing your message, like this:
alert("Welcome to your first OWA session!");
Now when your users first log into OWA, they should see something like this:
As with most of these type of modifications,
you will need to check that they still
function after each product update.
Sometimes your modified file
will be replaced by a new one from the update.
